There are people in need and others who want to help. We're looking for both.

Who We Are

Sunrise Outreach Center is a county-wide Christian social and human services non-profit located in Yakima, Washington.  Our purpose is to meet people where they are with the love of Christ and build on what they have.

Sunrise Outreach Center was birthed on the precepts and promises of Isaiah 58:6-9

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear, then your righteousness [a] will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. ”If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, (New International Version)

A Message from the Executive Director

This is a very exciting time for Sunrise Outreach. We now own the old train station in Wapato thanks to a generous donation from the Catholic Diocese. We are currently running the food bank there, but plan to expand services in 2017 to provide additional services to that community. We purchased the Community Center in Mabton where we’re running the food and clothing bank there. We’ve just relocated to a very nice Church building in Sunnyside which expands our service there.

We are becoming increasingly focused on intervention and prevention. The more we invest in education and services, the higher impact we’ll have on interrupting the cycle of poverty and reducing its affect with the next generation. This is a sound strategy and worth investing in. We therefore hope to open a third YREC home in calendar 2017.
